The five wonder women of Instagram to follow now

In light of International Woman’s Day this week, we were inspired by these five incredible women of Instagram who slip on their girl-boss capes and continue to kick-ass every day! Talk about #girlpower...

1. Virgie Tovar

This bold and beautiful body-positivity activist shows us how to embrace our bodies, regardless of shape or size. Creator of #LoseHateNotWeight and the editor of Hot & Heavy: Fierce Fat Girls on Life, Love and Fashion, the self-described “Fat-Feminist” shares an uplifting message and offers her followers glimpses of her own views on warped media messages and politics.

2. Malala Yousafzai

Malala was a pre-teen from Pakistan when she became an advocate for young girls’ education. Her efforts resulted in the Taliban declaring a death threat against her before being shot at by a gunman traveling home from school one day. Ever since, Malala has continued to fight for girls around the world through the Malala Fund. Her Instagram works towards her organisation which focuses on ensuring all girls get 12 years of education.

3. Ashy Bines

An advocate of all things healthy for the mind, body, and soul, we can’t help but fall in love with this blonde bombshell. Although her abs may make us feel guilty about that afternoon treat (all in moderation right?), her Instagram feed is overflowing with inspirational quotes that give us the warm fuzzies. She includes inspirational talks on her Instagram story that follow a different theme every day as well as providing healthier alternatives to our favourite comfort food. Kumara nachos anyone?

4. Katie Piper

After surviving the unthinkable - a vicious attack in which sulphuric acid was thrown at her face - Katie decided to share her story to the world, through her film, ‘Katie: My Beautiful Face’. She went on to start up her own organisation, The Katy Piper Foundation which supports the vision of scars not limiting a person’s function, identity or sense of well-being.

5. Tess Holliday

Tess Holliday isn’t your regular model, she holds something very special in comparison to all others… she’s a size 22, and killing it. Ever since childhood, Tess dreamed of becoming a model but noticed that no one was larger than a size 16. This motivated her even more. Tess uses her Instagram to help others  feel confident and comfortable with their own bodies. You go girl!
