The Fashion Trends set to dominate 2025, according to Local Fashion Creators
In 2024, we saw an evolution of its own kind within the fashion industry. In true circular style, the ‘quiet luxury’ era that defined 2023 ended, and we welcomed the start of a ‘brat summer’. From the ‘Birkinification’ of everyday bags to ‘barely there’ fabrics, celebrities and street style icons alike opted for a slightly more ‘undone’ approach to dressing, embracing the new ‘messy girl’ way of living.
Now that the New Year is officially here, we have our sights set on an entirely new style moodboard (whether we like it or not). So, to get ahead of the curve, we asked four local fashion creators for their top 2025 trend predictions. I think it’s safe to say that 2025 appears to be a maximalist’s dream.

"OUT: Business casual (yawn) IN: Maximalism - more-is-more.
For a while, minimalism offered exactly what we needed— a calm and comforting escape from the pressures of the cost-of-living crisis and growing austerity. But things are shifting, and there is an increasing hunger for clothes that imbue optimism and individuality.
I’m predicting sequin hot pants, pattern clashes & dresses over jeans on steroids.
As a tall girlie, I often shy away from wearing heels, but lately, I have been reaching for my platforms more and more.
I’m manifesting that 2025 is our year for making bold, unapologetic statements & celebrating unique identities. Whatever you're doing—go all in.”

“My prediction for 2025 fashion is a bit obscure. Circus Core….. stay with me, think dramatic layered ruffles, exaggerated sleeves & collars. Patterns on patterns, especially polka-dots! I also see people leaning into customised socks - I think it’s going to be a super fun way to elevate outfits this year!”

“I've said this before and I’ll say it again - neon! I think we’re going to see a lot more bright, electric colours make their way into our wardrobe. We saw a lot of pastels, like butter yellow, take centre stage last year, so I think we’re going to take it one step further with neon in 2025. I’m excited to bring some fun back into my wardrobe with an electric fuchsia gown, or a hot pink handbag. A rave resurgence perhaps?
My favourite fashion trend of 2024 was definitely the mini short. So sexy and chic. I’m personally extending this trend throughout 2025 too.
I want to see more people adding their own personal touch to whatever starts to trend in 2025. It’s so refreshing to see someone take an element from the mainstream and elevate it by adding their own personal style. It's inspiring!”

“I think we’re going to see a rise of maximalist nail designs and I’m here for it. I think we’ve exhausted the “pretty” minimalist French tips, and maximalism is already rising in popularity in other aspects of expression. Nail trends are also the most sustainable trend cycle if you ask me.”
