Remix Reviews: Coach Spring 2025 NYFW Show
After the recent unveiling of the ‘Unlock Your Courage’ campaign, the arrival of the Coach Spring 2025 New York Fashion Week debut gave us another glimpse into the mind of Creative Director Stuart Vever and his quest for personifying self-expression and personality. Taking place on the Spur of New York’s City’s High Line, the show bridged the gap between old and new, presenting a curated collection of refined versus rock-and-roll and all in all, a generous helping of preppy playfulness.
The show embraced upcycling and transformed classic aviator and leather into reinvented multi-button cardigans and teeny biker jackets. With the motto, "Chop them up with merry abandon!", every seam in this intricate blending of old and new tells a story from raw to refined. The show took classical tailoring and mixed it with influences of the counterculture, with items such as navy blazers, chinos, pinstripe suiting, and mini satin dresses of the '60s, as well as repurposed denim and moto jackets. This lineup speaks not only to the commitment of the collection to sustainability but also brings in a very modern edge. The pieces are uniquely wearable, with bold, edgy details to fit right into any kind of wardrobe, perfectly designed to help one build up that capsule collection in style.
Coach also unveiled the new Chain Tabby 26, revealing a bold twist on their classic Tabby bag. This stunning creation, made from supple soft-grain leather, comes with a sleek metallic chain strap showcasing intricate leathercraft details, also available in a spectrum of vibrant colours.
Rounding out the runway for Coach was a stellar front-row line-up of new members of the Coach family and stars of the ‘Unlock Your Courage’ campaign, including Charles Melton, Storm Reid, Nazha, Youngji Lee, and Jayson Tatum.
The Coach Spring 2025 NYFW show signals the start of some major trends, and here's Remix's rundown on what you can look out for!
Dare to Distress
In-fitting with their personality over perfection ethos, the show paved the way for a number of purposely distressed looks. From moth-bitten-esque 'I heart NY tops' to sneakers that appeared dirty, ripped denim coords to just-rolled-out-of-bed hair, these subtle nuances added a touch of rebellion, and encourages authenticity and a contagious type of confidence in imperfect style choices.
Bigger Is Better
This season, Coach proves that bigger is better, especially when it comes to bags. From backpacks to clutches, coinpurses to overnight, bags were intentionally large and in charge, offering not only immense practicality, but an envious style statement. The cherry on top came in the form of kitsch variations, including clutchable teddy bear-bags to underarm heart-shaped iterations. This is another tick in the self-expression box for Coach and for its wearers, is the catalyst for plenty of conversation starters.
The Spring Staple: Suede Jackets
Whispers among the fashion forward confirm that suede is the fabric to watch this season. And while synonymous with rugging up for winter, Coach propels suede into the spring spotlight, showing how those in the Southern Hemisphere can welcome suede into warmer wardrobes. On the runway, we saw the cardigan jacket in rich chocolate brown suede paired with a mini skirt and oversized clutch, proving that fun with proportions and materials is the key for styling success this spring. For warmer days, drape over shoulders or layer over sheer maxi dresses for that unexpected but undeniably cool pairing.
Charms Reimagined
This season’s fashion week showcases confirms that the bag charm trend is here to stay, but Coach has introduced a fresh way to showcase style and self-expression. On the runway, models sported playful shoe charms—animals, New York trinkets, and toy cars—turning footwear into a new canvas for creativity and personality. The best part? The possibilities are endless. Whether you choose frilly laces or attach tiny charms to loop holes, you control how bold or subtle you want to be.
