Karl Lagerfeld's first engagement rings
Karl Lagerfeld can now add ‘Engagement Ring Designer’ to his long resume - along with everything from a plethora of Chanel collections to designing Diet Coke cans. Although he has extensive fashion experience, the 82-year-old admits he wasn’t familiar with designing rings for brides-to-be; 'I had never done a ring for that occasion,' Lagerfeld admits. 'It was kind of a challenge.'
Lagerfeld collaborated with jeweler Frederick Goldman to create three collections of engagements rings designed for millennials and Karl wanted the rings to symbolise a deep connection. 'The rings had to express something that concerns the heart and real feelings… It has to be a symbol and a sign of a real wish of engagement. It has to be elegant but not bling-bling.'
All the styles are offered in 18-karat white and gold and platinum rings and prices range from $,1000 up to $10,000.
