So, what does biodegradable actually mean and how does the BioDown jacket fit in?
Biodegradable refers to a process where materials are broken down by microorganisms in specific environmental conditions, this could be your vege scraps in your at-home compost or the landfill site you send unwanted items. This specific jacket is designed to break down in a modern landfill environment using a special additive which is introduced during the synthetic manufacturing process which helps to accelerate the biodegradation in an anaerobic environment. Once introduced to the landfill environment the additive is then activated and begins to break down the synthetic polymer chains, resulting in organic matter.
