Our very own personal barista? Yes please.

There are no but’s about it, we’re a country of coffee snobs. As Kiwis, we know a good drop of coffee when we smell one. But to purchase one unsweetened-almond-milk-mochaccino-with-half-strength-chocolate-thank-you-very-much every day certainly adds up.

Cue a machine that allows coffee lovers to create barista-style beverages at home. Creatista by Nespresso allows users to customise their morning cuppa by selecting their preferred milk texture and temperature to create silky smooth milk and latte art.

Nespresso, the pioneers of portioned coffee has joined forces with appliance powerhouse Breville to develop two unique coffee systems, Creatista and Creatista Plus. These revolutionary machines feature an automatic steam wand to aid even the least experienced user in creating perfectly textured milk, every time.

With eight customisable settings to choose from – Espresso, Lungo, Ristretto, Flat White, Latte, Cappuccino and Macchiato, coffee lovers can recreate their favourite barista-style coffee in the comfort of their own home.

If the thought of frothing your own milk scares you, don’t fret, the handy temperature sensor automatically heats milk to the ideal temperature, while the steam wand creates a perfectly frothy texture. And if you get stuck, the intuitive TFT digital display offers step-by-step assistance that shows the first-time coffee maker how to craft the perfect cuppa.

In addition, Nespresso has launched three Limited Edition Variation Grands Crus for the festive season, inspired by the taste of Vienna’s most famous pastries – Sachertorte, Apfelstrudel and Linzer Torte.

The rich Sachertorte, a glazed chocolate cake with a thin layer of sweet apricot jam, is best enjoyed as an espresso. Inspired by the classic layered puff pastry dessert containing sweet apple filling and cinnamon, the Apfelstrudel espresso highlights the rich aromas of baked apples and pastry. The famous Austrian Linzer Torte, filled with tasty red fruit and topped with a lattice design, marries the spiced dough notes and apple in this espresso.

Newly launched for 2016, this year’s Les Collections range offers a selection of one-of-a-kind gifts for the coffee addict in your life. From porcelain espresso cups to lungo glasses crafted in crystal, discover the perfect gift to enhance your loved ones’ coffee moments in style.

To celebrate the launch of Nespresso's latest machine, the portioned-coffee brand is opening a pop-up café in the heart of Ponsonby. Best of all? The coffee is FREE.

Yes that isn't a typo, from November 11 - 20 between 7am and 2pm, customers are encouraged to pop into the Creatista Café to experience what it's like to enjoy a barista-style coffee 'in the comfort of their own home'.

To check out the Creatista Café for yourself, head down to 277 Ponsonby Road, in the Three Lamps shops.
