Last Saturday, three-year-old thoroughbred mare Probabeel, her jockey Opie Bosson and Te Akau Racing trainer Jamie Richards made history at Ellerslie Racecourse when winning the $1,000,000 Karaka Million 3YO Classic.  Last year they won the $1,000,000 Karaka Million 2YO and, after tonight’s win, became the first combination to ever win the million-dollar ‘duo’.

In addition, the jockey and trainer completed another outstanding double – also taking out the $1,000,000 Karaka Million 2YO race earlier in the evening with Cool Aza Beel.

New Zealand’s richest sporting event, the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Million saw a record crowd from far and wide descend on the course to soak up the evening’s six races, spurred on by the chants and cheers of the 400+ strong Boys Get Paid group who had formed the country’s largest-ever punters club.

The racecourse came alive to more than the sound of pounding hooves, however, drawing huge crowds of spectators to one of Auckland's best annual parties where they were privy to a fabulous display of fireworks.
