Dining at Vue Resaurant under their talented new chef

With the news of Grand Mercure Auckland welcoming a new executive chef to their renowned Vue Restaurant, we thought it was about time we paid one of our long-time favourite places to wine and dine (with the best view in town) a visit!

Hailing originally from Korea and with experience at some of Auckland’s finest establishments, such as the role of Exectutive Chef at Ostro, Daniel Na had plenty to bring to the table! His curated menu, while produce-driven, captures the flavours of Asia and the South Pacific through traditional cooking methods.

We were treated to a beautifully presented array of dishes: share plates included slow cooked lamb neck, fresh oysters, pan roasted market fish and apple and miso glazed pork belly. While all dishes were fantastic, we were particularly impressed with the pork belly, and some of the highest quality oysters we’ve tasted in Auckland!

Even prettier than the mains were the desserts. A dreamy white chocolate crème brulee, a delicate cappuccino parfait and dark chocolate mousse made the rounds of the table and nobody could get enough. Top marks for both presentation and taste on the unique cappuccino parfait!

Daniel Na’s relaxed yet refined approach to dining created a colourful, exciting and fulfilling menu that we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. We’re already planning our next dinner back!
