To note & follow: Your guide to some follow-worthy fashion arbiters

[gallery ids="6435,6434,6433,6432,6431"] Words by Sophie Chung  It's nearing that time of the year where your Instagram feed will be filled with a stream of double-tap worthy images covering runway shows from fashion weeks around the world. I don’t know about you, but the fashion blogosphere is riddled with sartorial inspirations that are continuously being added to my never-ending list of things I want NEED. Personal style bloggers are not just pretty, rich, stylish girls who upload their #ootd (outfit of the day) on social media. Production quality, editorial strategy, and affiliate marketing programs are a prerequisite in order to get your foot in the door in this competitive world. While some people say that the age of the personal style blogger is over, I say that this blogging community isn’t going anywhere. If they're good enough, bloggers create publications that are viewed
by millions. Following these style gurus offer a gateway into the behind-the-scenes-world of fashion, which many girls would kill for... like me. Although something that eases the pain a bit is remembering that social media is a window into a controlled perception through the camera - something these girls do very well.

In no particular order, five fashion arbiters from around the world that you probably should know about…

IMG2499 1. Pernille Teisbaek of Look de Pernille @lookdepernille This Scandinavian stylist, blogger and fashion influencer has a strong fashion profile via working as the Fashion Director for Danish Magazine ALT for Damern and also as the Fashion Editor at Eurowoman. Her small frame allows her to work a baggy-chic style that not many of us can pull off. Minimalistic, clean, classic and structured is what makes Pernille’s style. She has some seriously surprising sartorial combinations in her feed. Maybe you can try form an ensemble while listening to some Scandipop. – I recommend Mellom skyene by Gabrielle. 2fifteentwenty8.jpg_effected 2. Julie Sariñana of Sincerely Jules @sincerelyjules I am aggressively jealous of this particular one. She is gorgeous, always tanned and a globetrotter, but then again, all of these bloggers are. Most of her posts consist of casual outfits with emphasis on a detail to make your outfit give a smidgen more stylish. Versatility is a mantra that goes with her pieces. Colour is key but sometimes, nude hues are a must when it comes to classic staples. There is something about Julie that gracefully hollers an effortlessly cool vibe. Leandra Medine of Man Repeller @manrepeller man·re·pell·er1  [mahn-ree-peller] –noun she who outfits herself in a sartorially offensive mode that may result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls, shoulder pads, full length jumpsuits, jewelry that resembles violent weaponry and clogs. –verb (used without object),-pell·ing, -pell·ed. to commit the act of repelling men: Girl 1: What are you wearing tonight? Girl 2: My sweet lime green drop crotch utility pants, of course. Girl 1: Oh, so we’re man repelling tonight? This excerpt from the Man Repeller should suffice in explaining Leandra and her writers’ attitude – absolute sartorial freedom with an 'I don’t give a f**k' perspective. Smart, funny, sharp and witty women are slowly taking over the world. Take the quiz and see if you are a man repeller. I myself am a semi-Repeller and walk on the line of a 'supposedly nice balance'. P.S: Leandra also notoriously does not wear makeup. Screen Shot 2015-08-05 at 10.46.04 am 4. Danielle Bernstein of WeWoreWhat @weworewhat Danielle’s instagram is a personal style diary that logs her daily New York City endeavours. This blog is my all time favourite but at the same time it is so unrealistically perfect it makes me sad. She jumps from NYC to the Hamptons to St Barth’s every other day while the rest of us slug it out in our local area, wherever that may be. Her extensive jewellery, aviator and shoe collection is undeniably covetable. Her whole life is - just look at her blog and you will know what I mean. TEM9451 5. Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad @chiaraferragni The notorious number one – she has 4.2 million followers on Instagram. This Italian belle has featured on countless magazine covers and is indubitably credentialed in creating epic street-style. Dressing up is an art form and she has mastered it. The only problem would be that for any middle-class wannabe fashionista, we can’t afford 99% of her high end luxury labels. However, a girl can dream…and a smart girl can opt for a look-alike alternative. All images taken from the blogger's personal websites.
