Last chance to see Light Show: Auckland Art Gallery's most talked about exhibition

Words by Isabelle Truman.

This weekend is your last chance to see Light Show, the international exhibition from the Hayward Gallery in London, before it ends this Sunday. We were there for the final 'Open Late' with Chelsea Jade and, take our word for it, you MUST see this exhibition before it ends.

Taking up two floors of the Auckland Art Gallery, the Light Show exhibition is the first major presentation of international light-based art to be seen here in New Zealand.

Light Show brings together some of the most visually stimulating artworks created using different forms of light in recent years, with artworks created from the 1960s to the present day. From atmospheric installations to sculptures that you can move around and through, the Light Show offers an immersive and multi-sensory experience. Individual artworks explore colour, duration, intensity and projection of light, as well as perceptual phenomena.

Artists that have contributed their work for the show include, David Batchelor, Jim Campell, Olafur Eliasson, Dan Flavin, Jenny Holzer, Ann Veronica Janssens, Anthony McCall, Katie Paterson, James Turrell, Leo Villareal and New Zealand's own, Bill Culbert.

The Auckland Art Gallery is open 10am-8pm on Sunday for their final day.
